Project Journey
Having grown up in the Bermuda home, the owner recognized that it was time for a significant transformation to better support a growing family and contemporary living. What followed was a carefully considered refurbishment, guided by thoughtful, Bermuda-inspired architecture and tailored home design solutions.
Once a cherished family residential property, the house had become dark and dated, with mismatched flooring, outdated bathrooms, a tired kitchen, and aging windows and doors presenting key challenges. A comprehensive series of updates was undertaken to modernize the home while respecting its original character.
To improve functionality, a new garage, mudroom, and laundry were added, along with an additional bedroom to accommodate the expanding family. The primary suite was fully reimagined, creating a more generous walk-in closet and a bathroom remodel that was both spacious and modern.
At the heart of the home, the main living area underwent a dramatic transformation while maintaining the original footprint. Interior walls were removed to create an open-plan layout, and ceiling heights were increased to introduce more natural light and enhance the sense of volume and openness – a hallmark of contemporary Bermuda architecture.
Together, these changes honor the home’s history while creating a brighter, more cohesive, and highly functional environment for the next generation.
