Enmore Cottage

This project brought to life the vision of a young couple who dreamed of building a new home overlooking Bermuda's stunning Harrington Sound. They envisioned a residence that felt like a traditional Bermuda cottage built generations ago, while seamlessly incorporating modern amenities for contemporary living.

To achieve this balance, the design incorporates custom details that blend old-world charm with thoughtful, custom-built functionality. Interior glass-paned pocket doors allow for flexible living, offering the option of open-plan spaces or more intimate, enclosed rooms as desired.

A vibrant emerald-green Ilve range in the kitchen and a reclaimed red farmhouse sink from Vermont in the mudroom serve as playful and distinctive focal points. To further reinforce a sense of timelessness, antique cedar windows and doors from the clients’ family were carefully refinished and integrated into the living room, lending the home an authentic and storied character.

The primary suite provides a serene retreat, featuring a light-filled bathroom overlooking Harrington Sound that pairs modern luxury with sweeping views. In contrast, the powder room embraces a bold, immersive aesthetic with moody, ocean-themed wallpaper that pays homage to the couple’s Bermuda roots.

The completed home build strikes a careful balance between the charm of a bygone era and the comforts of modern living, thoughtfully reflecting the clients’ vision and deep connection to Bermuda. The project earned Mollie Bigley Design & Architecture an award from The Bermudian magazine.
